PURPOSE OF SOCIAL WORK
The purpose of Social Work by Allen Pincus and Anne Minahan as follows:
a. Improving problem-solving and the capacity to overcome
Improving people's ability to perform the duties of life and ability to solve problems Illustrations
b. Connecting people with systems that provide them with resources, services and opportunities
Connecting people with systems that can provide resources, services and opportunities they need
c. Promote the effective operation of the system and the human
Improving the ability of implementation of the system effectively and humanely
d. Contribute to the development and improvement of social policy
Contributing to the change, improvement and development of legislation and social policy
The purpose of Social Work by Dean H. Hepworth and Jo Ann Larsen as follows:
The purpose of Social Work is to promote or restore benefir mutual interaction betwen the individual and the community in order improven quality of life for all people.
The statement indicates that activities to improve or restore the reciprocal interaction between the individual and society is a goal to be achieved, in order to create a high quality of life. Social Workers in achieving these goals should have confidence that:
1) Environment (physical environment, social and organizational) must:
a) Provide opportunities and source - the source for each individual to be able to realize all the potential and aspirations to the fullest.
b) Provide opportunities and resources - the resources to meet the needs of all people and to reduce stress and suffering.
2) Individuals - individuals should contribute or contribute effectively, so as to bring happiness and prosperity to others in the immediate environment to the public.
3) Transactions of individuals with other individuals in the community should be able to increase the recognition that every human being has dignity and individual, unique self-determination.
They further details the purpose of Social Work as follows:
1. Helping people expand their competencies and enhance their ability to confront and solve the problem.
2. Helping people get the source - source
Many people who have little knowledge of the system resources available in the community. Therefore, the Social Worker acting as a broker (middleman) to connect people with existing source systems such as child welfare services, health, mental health, and so on.
3. Creating an organization - an organization that is responsive in providing services to the community.
4. Facilitate interaction among individuals with other individuals in their environment. Quality of life is determined by the quality of their interactions with others in a social context.
5. Affect the interaction between organizations - organizations with agencies - agencies
6. Influencing social policy and environmental policy.
