Facebook to give $100m to schools

The public school system in the largest city in New Jersey is ready to receive 100 million U.S. dollars from the founder of Facebook.
Democratic Newark Mayor Cory Booker, the Republican governor Chris Christie and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is expected to announce the donation Friday at Chicago-based syndicated Oprah Winfrey's TV show.
Several media outlets like The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and The Newark Star-Ledger reported the donation Wednesday night.
They say that Booker will have some control over the troubled school system, which is operated by the state and some of his lowest test scores and poor graduation rates to win.
Christie decided last month not to Newark schools Superintendent rehire. A search for a successor is underway.
